Mary was copied from a tiny picture of a Byzantine icon from Turkey. So far the painting has 5 coats of paint. I adore this indirect way of painting, layers of translucent paint make the painting look like a jewel and work wonderfully for icon paintings. I have some 24 carat gold leaf that I will use for the embellishments. I imagine this framed in a heavy gold baroque frame.
The milk mustache will have to go though. When she is complete I will post her again.
